Amber Rose Beats Emotional Distress Lawsuit Filed by Wiz Khalifa’s Mother
Amber Rose has another important legal victory on her hands to celebrate, with the judge reportedly ruling in her favor once again.
Rose, who was initially sued for defamation in a suit that has since been tossed out, has found herself victorious against her former mother-in-law once again, after a judge found the alleged statement that led to the lawsuit in the first place was deemed insulting, but not extreme and outrageous. As pointed out by TMZ, the latter qualities are needed to prove emotional distress.
The lawsuit, which was filed in August, claimed Rose made an alleged phone call to a third party, in which she reportedly accused Wimbush-Polk of allowing her daughter, Dorien “LaLa” Thomaz to die. The phone call reportedly was made merely months after Thomaz passed away due to complications with lymphoma, with Wimbush-Polk reportedly suing Rose because she felt the comments were intended to be malicious, harmful to her reputation and deter “others from associating or dealing with her,” adding that it caused her “severe mental anguish.”
However, the judge reportedly ruled that “Mere insults, indignities, threats, annoyances, petty oppressions, and other trivialities” do not equate to causing emotional distress.
Per the judge, Rose’s alleged commentary was nothing but beef between former in-laws and did not constitute emotional distress. Case closed.
At the time of this report, neither Wiz Khalifa nor Amber Rose have issued statements addressing the recent lawsuit.
