Get your friends together, form a team with your co-workers or get your family involved…the Angelina County Heart Alliance (ACHA) is gearing up for the third annual Heart Scoot walk, a fundraiser that benefits the residents of Angelina County through education and equipment.  This year, the walk has a special meaning as it is being held in honor of Coach John Outlaw.

The third annual Heart Scoot walk event will be held on April 21 at 8:30 a.m. in downtown Lufkin at Jennings Station, just prior to the Downtown Hoedown.  The three-mile walk is set up in 1-mile increments so participants can walk one, two or all three miles as they raise funds to help fight heart disease in Angelina County.  All money raised by the event will stay in Angelina County to be used toward the education and prevention of cardiac disease.

This year’s event is being dedicated to the memory of Coach John Outlaw, long-time Lufkin Panther Athletic Director and Head Football Coach, who passed away from a heart attack last December.
