The twenty-fifth anniversary of Batman: The Animated Series is now more than just a celebration for fans. Warner Bros. reveals an official Blu-ray remastering of The Dark Knight’s animated adventures will hit shelves in 2018.

The news was announced during the twenty-fifth anniversary panel at New York Comic-Con, which itself commemorated the September 6, 1992 launch of Batman: The Animated Series pilot “On Leather Wings.” Warner Bros. rep Gary Miereanu gave away DVD copies of the series, before confirming that a Blu-ray version would arrive “later in the year” 2018 (h/t Polygon).

For the moment, it isn’t entirely clear if the Blu-ray release will also include The New Batman Adventures that followed the series, but kept similar animation style and continuity among the voice cast. This isn’t the first time Batman: The Animated Series has been remastered in a new format, as this past July also saw the animated Batman: Mask of the Phantasm film released to Blu-ray.

We’ll see when Warner Bros. comes forth with more details of Batman: The Animated Series on Blu-ray, but what other features and celebrations of the franchise should we expect by the time of next year’s twenty-sixth anniversary?
