Bike for Life: Bicycle Safety Event

Bicycle Safety is the main reason for this event, but you could end up winning on of 4 bikes that they are giving away on Saturday September 22nd at Lufkin High School. Bike for Life. Stop by the school at 9am that day at 309 North Medford Drive in Lufkin to get in on the drawing and useful information.

When I was growing up, bikes were life. I remember having a chromoly sprocket when I was a kid, and it being a big deal. The rest of my BMX bike was all steel, today bikes are made entirely of all kinds of light weight stuff. Carbon fiber is even becoming more common, and steel is being replaced with at least aluminum. The more you pay the less it weighs is what I always thought.

I think after taking my 10 speed apart to paint it, down to the last screw, my dad was not impressed. I think this led to self realizations of my limitations and skills. For me, it was a valuable lesson at the time.

This is a FREE bike rodeo for Angelina County! Families can practice bike safety skills, get a bike inspection, and participate in fun bike obstacle courses. First 100 participants will receive a helmet and goody bag!
