I know, I know, you’ve seen these posts before. You’ve clicked on headlines about how so-and-so actor is ‘unrecognizable’ as so-and-so historical figure in a new biopic. You’ve been promised that, despite your best efforts and the quality of your eyesight, you certainly will not be able to distinguish the actor from the real person, and you’ve probably been disappointed. But for real, it’s different this time. Christian Bale and Amy Adams legit look like Dick and Lynne Cheney in Adam McKay’s Cheney biopic.

Last month we saw Bale not looking like himself as he prepared to shoot the film, but those photos are nothing compared to what you’re about to witness. A new batch of set photos (h/t Collider) might just destroy you. Now, we all know Bale’s history of massive physical transformation, from skeletal to beefy to bony again. But folks, we’ve reached a while new level of Bale metamorphosis. Christian Bale no longer exists; there is only Dick Cheney. Behold:

I kid you not, that’s your former Dark Knight. Here’s a close-up of the former U.S. Vice President Oscar winner:

Wait, is that Bale or Cheney? Let’s take a look at the former V.P.

Hold up – is that Bale? I CAN’T TELL ANYMORE! I think it’s becoming clear now. Christian Bale isn’t an actor. No, no. Christian Bale is most definitely an extraterrestrial sent to Earth to learn the crafts of acting so he can camouflage into any human being he chooses to, and then, after making our heads explode in total befuddlement, take over the world. He’s not alone though. Amy Adams is helping him screw with our eyes.

Here’s a set photo of the actress you know and love from movies like Arrival and Enchanted as the politician’s wife, Lynne Cheney:

For comparison, here’s the real Lynne Cheney in a similarly-colored suit. Or is it Amy Adams? I HAVE NO IDEA!

McKay’s film will follow the Dick Cheney “avoiding military service in the Vietnam War, his rise to CEO of the multinational corporation Halliburton and finally becoming what some have called the most powerful U.S. vice president ever to hold office.” Prepare yourself for even more wild transformations though. Steve Carell is playing the former Secretary Defense Donald Rumsfeld, Tyler Perry is the former Secretary of State Colin Powell, Sam Rockwell will be George W. Bush, and Alison Pill will play the Cheney’s daughter, Mary Cheney.
