Listeners in Shelby and Nacogdoches County started calling the station around 10:11am this morning. Apparently there was a 3.7 magnitude earthquake that struck the southwest side of Timpson. Earthquakes are a very rare thing in East Texas and the first thing that I thought of was fracking, looks like others are having the same thoughts, but it could very well just be a random incident.

None of the people calling reported any damage, just some slight jostling about, but I would definitely be freaked out if it happened near me.

I found a map from the USGS that shows that the epicenter of the earthquake west of Timpson.
