Ellie Goulding didn’t wait long to deliver on her promise to give fans a sneak peek of her new music! Just a few days after she announced the title of the record, Goulding posted a short teaser video with clips from a handful of tracks from her upcoming ‘Halcyon’ album.

The new music follows in the same vein as ‘Lights,’ the joyous electropop song that became Goulding’s breakthrough hit in America. The songs are bright and vibrant, although the teaser also reveals a surprising number of ballads. No featured artists show up in the two-minute preview, but we already know Tinie Tempah will be on the album.

On one track, Goulding seems to provide her own instrumentation with a vocal loop standing in for keyboards as she sings, “The only animal I couldn’t fight / You hold me in the dark when storms arise.” The unique melody and stomping beat make that one a potential hit.

‘Halcyon’ arrives on Oct. 9 and will be preceded by the Tempah collaboration ‘Hanging On‘ and the official first single ‘Anything Could Happen.’ She has called the album a “break-up record,” but as the teaser demonstrates, the music is still upbeat.
