Facebook Will be the Resume of the Future!
Don’t just update your status — update your résumé. Facebook has just released a Social Jobs App that will allow people to search job listings from a multitude of sites like Monster and DirectEmployers.
Earlier this week, Facebook launched its new app, as part of the Social Jobs Partnership program in association with the U.S. Department of Labor. If this newfound initiative is successful, it could tighten the gap between personal and professional networking, and possibly putting the screws to professional-networking companies like LinkedIn.
However, investors are wondering if Monster is committing business suicide by assisting Facebook with their new app, since the business of job searches has been Monster’s meat and potatoes for so long.
Facebook claims the unstable economy is the reason they developed the app. “When it comes to economic growth, few issues are more important than matching qualified candidates with great jobs,” Facebook said in a press release. “In that spirit, we know that the power of social media—the connections between friends, family and community—can have an outsized impact on finding jobs.”
Experts say that utilizing Facebook to conduct job searches is a good idea, considering half of all employers are already using Facebook in their hiring process. Most human resources executives agree: Facebook is destined to become integral to the hiring process.
So you have been warned, in the future when you are 60 your employer will be looking at you when you were 18 in that bikini.
