Donald Trump shocked political pundits and many Americans when he won last night's (Nov. 8) presidential election. The new president-elect's victory has millions of people worried about what the next four years will look like. Trump's ability to win the presidency with no political experience has also opened the door for a whole new world of candidates. As a result, fans are already hoping that Kanye West will legitimately run for president in 2020.

Kanye first announced his intent to run in 2020 during the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. Most observers laughed it off as a ridiculous statement that would never come true. But now, Trump's stunning win has changed the entire conversation. A Kanye bid for the presidency does not sound as unfathomable as it did just one day ago.

Yeezy has not backed away from his claim either. Back in September 2015, he referenced his plan to run for president at the iHeartRadio Music Festival. "You’ll be the man I always knew you could be, 2020," Kanye sang during a slightly altered version of his "Only One" collaboration with Paul McCartney.

As silly as it may sound, thoughts of a Kanye presidency might provide some levity to a lot of frustrated people. Many Americans are despondent following Trump's unprecedented victory. The reality television star ran a campaign filled with racism, xenophobia and sexism. It is understandable why a number of people have little hope in the United States when such a vile platform succeeds at the highest level.
