Following the tragic city-wide attacks in Paris on Friday evening, the Foo Fighters have announced the cancellation of the remainder of their European tour. It warrants mentioning that the most deadly of the attacks, in which over 100 people were killed, took place at the Bataclan, a music venue which at the time was hosting an Eagles of Death Metal show.

The rock band took to Facebook to issue this message to fans on Saturday morning:

"It is with profound sadness and heartfelt concern for everyone in Paris that we have been forced to announce the cancellation of the rest of our tour. In light of this senseless violence, the closing of borders, and international mourning, we can't continue right now. There is no other way to say it. This is crazy and it sucks. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who was hurt or who lost a loved one."

The Foo Fighters are not the only musical act to cancel or postpone events in the wake of the Paris attacks. U2 cancelled a sold-out Paris show that was scheduled for Saturday, while Canadian punk-rockers Simple Plan cancelled a private show in Paris scheduled for Monday.

In addition, Coldplay postponed a live-stream concert in Los Angeles Friday night, instead playing a brief set of old material for concertgoers already at the venue, including an emotional acoustic cover of John Lennon's "Imagine." Watch below:

It is likely that, in light of the current state of emergency in France, other shows, tours, and music events, particularly in Europe, will be affected over the upcoming days and weeks.
