It's all around you. In East Texas you can't help but see the forest....and the trees. So logging is a huge industry around here. Check out this fun activity this weekend and enjoy a tree-mendus day.

Forest Family Fun Day is Saturday (May 10th) at the Expo Center on the Loop in Lufkin. The Texas Forestry Association is celebrating their 100th Anniversary, and are inviting you to the party. Admission is free and is open to the public starting at 8am this Saturday.

There will be lots of different contests that all involve the logging industry. Things like Skidder Mud Races, Log Loading, and Chainsaw competitions. The Texas Logging Council is also helping to make this a huge event this year.

Vendors will start serving food at 9am.  I really think the kids will enjoy the Best Log Truck Competition.  It's like a car show for big haulers! There will be a portable sawmill demonstration, chainsaw carving, and lots of youth activities in the practice arena.

Give back by joining in the log auction at 12:30pm near the contest area.  Proceeds from this years auction will benefit the Lufkin State Supported Living Centers Wheelchair Fabrication Dept. and the TFA Educational Fund.
