After being sued by his father for libel to the tune of $14.5 million, Frank Ocean has beat the case, as a California judge ruled that the singer did not defame him. According to Law 360, the Blonde vocalist defeated the lawsuit as his estranged father, Calvin Cooksey, “failed to meet necessary elements to make his defamation claim.”

If you recall, Ocean’s father sued his son for damages after the California native’s 2016 Tumblr post recounted Cooksey calling a transgender waitress an anti-gay slur, which he says has lost him “financial opportunities in film and music.”

“I was six years old when I heard my dad call our transgender waitress a faggot as he dragged me out a neighborhood diner saying we wouldn’t be served because she was dirty,” Frank wrote in the post in response to the Orlando, Fla. nightclub shooting last year.

At the time of the filing, Cooksey reportedly made a complaint to the court, where he not only called Tyler, The Creator a “devil worshipper,” but he also calls Frank a “fraud [who] only cared about making millions of dollars through Defendant’s exclusive deal with Apple Inc.”

It looks like the lawsuit can now come to a close, but time will tell if Frank Ocean and his father can ever repair their relationship moving forward.
