We hate to see you go, Gavin! Gavin DeGraw managed to narrowly escape elimination on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ twice before, but on last night’s episode (April 17), the crooner was unable to get a save from the bottom two.

DeGraw received the lowest score on last night’s ep of ‘DWTS,’ and he was forced to face off against ‘Family Matters’ star Jaleel White in a dance battle. Despite making a strong effort, the ‘Sweeter’ crooner had a sour taste in his mouth as it was announced he would be heading home.

DeGraw and his partner Karina Smirnoff made it through five weeks of the competition, which is pretty good since the pianist admitted to not being the most impressive dancer when the competition started. During DeGraw’s face off with White, both of the celebrities gave it their all, but sadly it was the ‘Not Over You’ hitmaker who was sent packing, with the judges saying they made their decision based “purely on the quality of the dances” they saw last night.

Even though DeGraw was given the boot, he was all smiles as he hugged his fellow contestants during his dismissal. He told host Tom Bergeron, “It’s been amazing to be part of the show,” and explained how grateful he was to have his family with him during his run. He also praised Smirnoff for her expertise and guidance throughout the competition. So basically, DeGraw might be a loser on ‘DWTS,’ but he went out like true winner.

Last night’s ‘Dancing With the Stars’ episode also saw live performances from Selena Gomez, who performed ‘Hit the Lights’ with her band, and from Train, who treated fans to a live rendition of their latest hit single ‘Drive By.’
