On Wednesday June 15, Grimes was performing at Brooklyn's Barclays Center — where she opened for Florence and the Machine — when she suddenly decided to cut her set short and walk off stage. Just after introducing her next song, "World Princess Part II," the singer-producer told the crowd, "We just had a really disturbing thing happen to us today, so sorry if my voice is shaking. It's just kind of a f---ed day."

She continued to apologize to the audience, explaining that she was having "a little trouble keeping it together. Then, in the middle of singing the Art Angels track, the artist's voice trailed off and she left the stage before completing the song.

Later, when asked for more information on the incident, a spokesperson for Grimes told Pitchfork that they unfortunately could not comment. Fans were, understandably, boggled. However, on Thursday June 16, the pop star finally addressed her cryptic onstage statements and behavior, indicating the "disturbing thing" that happened may now involve the authorities.

"I will explain what happened at Barclays once I can safely and legally do so," she wrote in one tweet, urging her followers in another post to steer away from false information that may be found on Reddit or fan accounts.

"Speculating about my mental health is not news," Grimes added.

While there's no news yet on what prompted the performer's mid-concert upset, fans can rest easy knowing that the incident should have little-to-no impact on future scheduled performances.

When one fan asked on Twitter is any other shows would be canceled, Grimes assured them that "everything else is fine."
