Jonathan Trappe took flight this morning at 6:20 a.m. from Caribou, Maine. His dream is to fly across the Atlantic propelled only by helium balloons. Soaring above the ocean at 18,000 to 20,000 feet in the air. Nobody has attempted this exact thing, but five people have died trying to cross in a hot air balloon. I think he might have a better chance because he has multiple balloons. He already crossed the English channel doing this, but the Atlantic is a MUCH bigger feat. Trappe, 39, is IT Manager from North Carolina, and will be in contact with meteorologists hourly to improve his chances of getting this done.
