Today is National ASL day (American Sign Language), and while it's a great way to communicate, the ladies of the Delta Zeta Sorority at SFASU are looking to getting the deaf and hearing impaired another way to communicate ... hearing.

Bright and early Saturday, April 16th 2016, after registration, a 5K "race" (You don't have to race) will start at 8 AM for a really great cause.

They are calling it a race, a hike, a walk, and while you can sign up to walk at your leisure if you wish ...  Knowing that you are helping bring the gift of hearing to someone makes you a true winner. They will even have door prizes you are automatically put in the running for when you register for the hike. The start of race will be at the SFASU commuter lot, which you can locate on this link to the SFA campus map

You will have to sign up as a team of 5 or more, so make sure you and 4 of your friends/family are down to go for a stroll with you.

The video below was taken from INSIDER, and shared on the Hike For Hearing Facebook page where you can learn about a ll the great things these wonderful ladies are raising money for.

Big thanks to the ladies at Delta Zeta, and Margaret Teague for setting this 5K up, and raising money for such a beautiful cause.

One of the main reasons I love Delta Zeta is through its partnership with Starkey Hearing Foundation. In order to support the Starkey Hearing Foundation, Delta Zeta has pledged five million dollars in five years through Hike for Hearing. As a person affected by hearing loss, I am honored to be organizing a 5K in support for raising awareness and funds for this truly amazing organization.
