Over the last six weeks, Jay Z and his team have seen a huge amount of success after they released their six-episode documentary series around the story of the late Kalief Browder. Following in the footsteps of the Spike series, Time: The Kalief Browder Story, Hov and The Weinstein Company are currently making another documentary series about race and inequality.

According to Variety, the Brooklyn rap veteran has signed on for a deal with National Geographic to cover the state of race relations in America following the controversial presidential election that put Donald Trump in office. The series is slated to be titled Race and will incorporate documentary, animation and archival footage with Katie Couric as the lead journalist.

Harvey Weinstein put out a press release about the project in the works, explaining, “National Geographic and Jay Z are the world’s foremost storytellers in their own right, and we’re thrilled to be working with them on such an evocative and meaningful project. By using highly cinematic storytelling techniques along with Jay Z’s singular point of view, the series will tell a dramatic, thought-provoking story on race in America.”

The new documentary series with National Geographic is the third project created by Hov and The Weinstein Company, as they’ve already released the Kalief Browder series and are currently working on a docu-series based around Trayvon Martin that will release through Paramount in 2018.
