While Kanye West hasn't responded to Taylor Swift's recent jabs at him, Yeezy fans aren't letting up on the singer. On Nov. 10, the same day Taylor released her new album Reputation, Kanye fans around the world participated in "Hey Mama Day"—a day where fans of the rapper streamed "Hey Mama" for 12 hours straight on Spotify to keep Swift off the top of the charts following the release of Reputation. It's also the same day Kanye's mother, Donda West, passed away in 2007.

Although the streams didn't help the song move up the Spotify charts, it did increase the number of streams on the site, moving up from 23.6 million to 24.3 million—about 700,000 plays. Organized by 16-year-old Rhys Halkidis, the plan was to get 31,250 people to stream the song for half a day.

The 16-year-old created a 30-hour playlist featuring only "Hey Mama" and "“Siiiiiiiiilver Surffffeeeeer Intermission” from The Life of Pablo that helped the song reach the top of the Spiking Tracks list on Last.fm. "Hey Mama" also made it to No. 33 on the New Zealand iTunes chart and reached the top 100 in Australia.

But while the song's 700,000 streams should have landed it on Spotify's daily Top 200 list, the song never appeared. According to The Ringer, this was either because the streams weren't amassed in a 24-hour-window or Spotify caught on to the ploy and wouldn't allow it to chart.

According to a representative for the streaming music service, Spotify has "multiple fraud-detection measures in place" to identify and exclude irregular and excessive streaming patterns. Billboard also looks down on the schemes, saying, "Billboard works closely with each data provider to ensure both the accuracy and legitimacy of the streaming volumes being reported."

With "Hey Mama Day" 2017 now over, Halkidis already has next year's version set up for Nov. 9, 2018 through Nov. 11, 2018.
