Is Kanye West Starting His Own Streaming Service?

From rapping to producing to fashion design, Kanye West has engaged in plenty of business and artistic endeavors during his time in the spotlight, and it looks like the form of his next venture might have already taken shape.

Kanye’s company Mascotte Holdings, which seems to be responsible for all his trademarks, recently filed a U.S. Trademark application for something called Yeezy Sound. It seems that ‘Ye’s filed four separate trademarks, and the description for one of them indicates that the entity will be for “streaming of music, audio, images, video and other multimedia content over the internet, mobile devices, wireless networks and other computer networks and electronic communications networks.” We don’t know about you, but to us, that sounds like a streaming service.

Another of Kanye’s new trademarks include something described as being for “retail stores, wholesale stores, mail order services, on-line ordering services and on-line retail store services, and retail store services available through computer communications and interactive television.” The last two trademarks focus on video games, “musical sound recordings” and entertainment in the same vein as an amusement park.

What’s interesting about all of this, aside from Kanye’s typically diverse interests, is the idea that he could be launching his own streaming service. As you probably know, Yeezy played a major role in launching JAY-Z’s Tidal platform, but over the last year or so, the two have had some problems. This past summer, ‘Ye officially left Tidal over money disputes.

As of now, all of ‘Ye’s aforementioned new trademarks are listed as being in the “intent-to-use” phase, meaning he hasn’t used them for commercial purposes yet, but he plans to.
