The mind behind Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt might prove to be an especially helpful foil for the show's smiley protagonist in Season 2.

Tina Fey, who played a clueless lawyer named Marcia at the tail-end of the show's first season, will appear on Season 2 as a brand new character, showrunner Robert Carlock told The Hollywood Reporter. Where Marcia was almost a roadblock to Kimmy's growth and progress away from a doomsday cult, Fey will, conversely, play an aid this time around.

"She comes back in a few episodes in a very meaty, fun role as someone who, in an unexpected way, intersects with Kimmy and is someone who perhaps can offer a new kind of help to Kimmy in her effort to rid herself of her past demons," Carlock said.

More importantly, Fey's opted for her natural hair in her new role, not that Marcia's style was without its merits (30 Rock fans, you will surely appreciate this).

"The other character, that wig, when she played Marcia, that wig was actually one of Liz Lemon's flashback wigs," Carlock said. "I think that was one of her high school, bad perm wigs."

Now that Kimmy's found her footing as a New Yorker, what adventures come next? Carlock said she's still got a lot of reflecting to do.

"If Season One is her getting her feet under herself a bit and having a job and some friends and a place to live and dealing with some of the stuff in her past, Season Two is her realizing and coming to terms with the fact that there's some things she'll never be over and she has to accept that," he said. "There's some people you can't fix, and she has to accept that. Doesn't mean she won't stop trying, and she won't stop trying to put her past in the past."
