After plenty of delays, Lil Wayne swears he’s finally releasing ‘Tha Carter IV’ — and he’ll celebrate the album’s August 29 debut with a performance at the MTV VMAs the night before.

Thanks to some information shared by his manager during a recent Billboard interview, Lil Wayne is the first confirmed performer for the 2011 ceremony. After so many bumps in the road, Wayne doesn’t need any additional incentive to get the record out on time, but now he can look forward to a nice post-VMA sales bump.

Wayne’s manager, Cortez Bryant, shared a few details about ‘IV,’ saying “It’s done for the most part, [around] 30 songs [that] I need to carve down to 12 to 16, with four or so bonus tracks.”

‘Tha Carter IV’ follows a busy 2010 for Wayne, who dropped two albums last year: ‘Rebirth’ and ‘I Am Not a Human Being,’ both certified gold for sales of half a million copies by the RIAA.
