Lil Wayne, how could you do this to the popular cookie?

Yesterday, Oreo cookies attempted to set a world record for the most “likes” on Facebook. Since Guinness World Records had yet to recognize that category, they told Oreo that to establish the record they would have to garner 45,000 likes in a 24-hour period.

The cookie brand was well on its way to doing this when the rapper Lil Wayne caught wind of what was going on.  He then made an appeal to his 20 million Facebook fans to help him take the record.

Lil Wayne got over 500,000 likes, whereas Oreo got just over 100,000.

Guinness did award the record to Oreo today, but said they are aware of Lil Wayne’s more recent Facebook activity, and that they will pass the award to him when it is verified.
