The Lufkin 7-on-7 football team was able to beat Lumberton, Tyler Lee and Crosby, and that will send the team to the Sate Tournament next month.

How did Nacogdoches do?

While Lufkin was winning big, Nacogdoches wasn’t faring so well. Nac lost to John Tyler 37-6, then lost to Beaumont Central 40-19, and then lost to Humble Kingwood Park 26-0.

Have you ever seen a 7-on-7 game? It’s lightning fast, and can be really high scoring. A quarterback can only hang on to the ball for four seconds until he gets a penalty, so it’s a lot of quick passes that lead to a lot of touchdowns.

Lufkin beat Beaumont Central 57-20 Saturday at Abe Martin Stadium in Lufkin and they’ll move on to the state tournament in College Station in July.

We have another chance to watch the guys play before that and get warmed up for the state tournament. Lufkin will play in the Tyler Lee tournament in the coming days, but since the guys already wrapped up the state tournament berth it doesn’t much matter if they win at Tyler Lee. You know they want to keep rackin’ up the TDs though. Nice job guys!
