Rumors recently surfaced that a potential new Mariah Carey single could make its way to the public within weeks, in an attempt to deflect from her disastrous (though already legendary!) New Year's Eve performance. And while an actual musical clip or official confirmation has yet to surface thus far, a new report from TMZ indicates new music from Mariah is well on its way.

Carey reportedly already recorded a song with rapper YG and shot a music video to support the track — all in the span of 24 hours.

The site goes on to say the “Heartbreaker” singer wrote the song with her breakup from ex-fiance James Packer in mind and hopes the track “will be an anthem for women overcoming harsh breakups.”

The alleged new song — the title of which has yet to be released — will reportedly air during the Mariah’s World season finale on Sunday, January 29.

Showbiz 411’s Roger Friedman initially reported that LA Reid had plans to drop a new Mariah single in the weeks following her New Year’s Eve performance to gain back public favor.

“I hear that LA Reid and Epic Records want to release a new single by Mariah in three weeks,” Friedman reported. "They’ve got it, and feel that she needs something on the radio to remind people Carey can really sing – not just lip sync."
