Sadly, last month, we as a nation grieved the loss of another young person lost too soon due to senseless violence. I'm not here to rail on guns or school shootings or young people today or even the unfairness of the world. However, I do want to mark the life of one lost before their time.

Claire Davis was a 17 year old student at Arapahoe High School in Centennial, CO. She was shot point blank in the face, a fatal wound that would later claim her life. But Claire was more than that.

I didn't know Claire, but her obvious passion for horses tells me a lot about her. Equestrians may come in all shapes and sizes and from all walks of life, but they share the traits of compassion, empathy and work ethic. As a life long horse person, I know this to be true. This video is from the moving tribute where Claire's horse was ceremonially unsaddled for the last time. RIP Claire.
