Neon Trees are gearing up for the release of the much-anticipated album, 'Pop Psychology,' which will drop later this month on April 22. Since we already can't stop singing their latest single, 'Sleeping With a Friend,' we were super psyched to hear that EDM duo ASTR remixed the tune -- and Diffuser.fm has the exclusive premiere.

In the remix, ASTR give the pop song a funky, '80s-sounding vibe, with a heavy synth sound and a danceable beat. ASTR's remix may have a bit of a retro feel, but it is far from outdated: we can totally picture ourselves rocking out to it at a club. While they make good use of Neon Trees' catchy chorus, ASTR chose instead to loop the lyric "all my friends" and turn that into the refrain instead, giving the song a fresh, new twist.

We also love how much they enhance Tyler Glenn's "ooh's," which is one of our fave parts of the original tune. ASTR also lower Glenn's voice several octaves, giving him a Barry White kind of baritone that definitely adds to the funky, old-school feel of the song. Ultimately, the best thing about ASTR's remix is that it puts a club-like spin on the smash and transforms it into an (almost) entirely new song by taking all of the best parts of the original and enhancing it with smooth new elements.
