Could ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ be the surprise blockbuster of the summer? Critics certainly seem to think so.

The James Franco vehicle, which serves as a reboot of the classic ‘Apes’ franchise, is receiving strong reviews thus far – or at least stronger than most had expected.

But will good reviews translate into box-office gold? It’s tough to say. If audiences are turned off by apes trying to take over the world, they could go for ‘The Change-Up’ instead, which stars funnymen Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman who switch bodies after wishing they had each other’s lives.
