One Direction is taking over America, and with scores of screaming fans gathering to see them at their recent ‘Today’ show performance, the British boy band is being compared to the likes of Justin Bieber and the Beatles.

In a recent interview with E! News, the guys were asked about their thoughts on being grouped with pop stars like The Biebs. “I think it’s incredible,” Liam Payne said. “I don’t think we could ever have imagined anything like this when we entered for ‘X Factor,’ and now we’re over here and we did the ‘Today’ show today and we’ve a big massive crowd of fans and stuff. It’s just incredible, we can’t believe it.”

The interviewer also brought up the fact that people are mentioning the Beatles and One Direction in the same sentence. “We always say that comparison … [you] almost discard it when people say that because it’s such a huge compliment that you just think that people can’t be comparing us to the Beatles,” Louis Tomlinson explained. “It’s kind of surreal really, but yeah, it’s a compliment.”

According to Harry Styles, One Direction has also been described as “Pink as a boy band.” However, with their debut album, ‘Up All Night,’ which arrived in the U.S. on March 13, the guys are content with being themselves. Styles added, “For us, it’s important to deliver good music and obviously we want music that we enjoy and the fans enjoy.”
