Olly Murs Says He’s ’20 Percent Gay’ Because Sexuality Is Super Quantifiable

In an interview with The Sun published yesterday (March 15), musician and former X Factor personality Olly Murs addressed Sacha Baron Cohen's remarks in February that the actor is 23 percent gay ("There are times I go down to 17 sometimes I'm 31 depends on the situation. When I was doing Borat and I had the testicles at my chin I was at 31," Cohen remarked, according to E! News).

Rather than point out that Cohen's assessment was frustratingly tone-deaf, Murs corroborated the statement, noting "I’m probably the same, or maybe 20 per cent."

Following Cohen's lead, Murs also made sure to also veil his seemingly cool admission in a bit of stereotyping.

"I’ve got a lot of gay friends I get on with really well," he said. "I get on with everyone. Everyone’s got a bit of campness about them."

In May 2012, Murs told Australia's Star Observer: "The weirdest thing for me is when straight guys get really freaked out by gay guys. It’s almost like they’re insecure in their own sexuality...For me, I can be in a room full of gay men and have fun."
