Officials with the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas, Angelina National Forest, have advised that a prescribed burn will take place today (1/24) in northwestern Jasper County.

Just under 3600 acres are in the burn zone which iw generally is bordered by Highway 255 to the south, Highway 63 to the west, and Lake Sam Rayburn to the east.  Winds today are expected to be from the south at 10-15 mph, so persons in areas near Broaddus, Chireno, San Augustine, Bronson, and Norwood may see some smoke or hazy conditions as a result.

The map below shows the project burn areas which are located in Compartment 77/79/81/84/85 (BLOCKS A, B, C, D) - 3579 acres.
