The hardest-working man in show business is about to lighten his workload. REGIS PHILBIN announced on Tuesday's edition of Live! with Regis and Kelly that he will retire from the morning show. The 79-year-old Philbin said he plans to step aside around the end of the summer, but he did not reveal a specific date. While announcing his news, he said, "This will be my last year on this show...I know it's been a long time. It's been 28 years since I've been here and it was the biggest thrill of my life." No replacement has been named.

Live! debuted in 1983 as a program in New York City hosted by Philbin called The Morning Show. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD came onboard as his co-host in 1985 and the show became nationally syndicated in 1988, when the title was changed to Live with Regis & Kathie Lee. Current co-host KELLY RIPA took Gifford's place in 2001 and the show's title changed once again to Live! with Regis and Kelly. (ABC NEWS)

Well Kidd Kraddick didn't get the hosting job to fill in for Regis for a day but it looks like someone is going to replace him entirely. I think if I had his job I would be ready to retire. I wonder what time he has to wake up in the morning. Post your comments about what you think about the retirement! DP
