It looks like East Texas is in for a '1-2 weather punch' over the next several days as a series of storms is expected to bring the possibility of severe storms and multiple heavy downpours.

A dry line and cool front approaching from the west will trigger a large swath of severe weather across the central and southern plains over the next 5 days.  It looks like areas from Waco through Dallas to Oklahoma and Kansas will be dealt the worst of the weather when it comes to widespread tornadoes, hail, and damaging winds.  However, the greatest potential for flooding rains between now and Sunday will occur in the Ark-La-Tex and across portions of East Texas.  Up to 9 inches of rain can be expect in some areas with up to a foot of rain not out of the question in some isolated storms.

Forecasters are expecting the line up of storms to play out in this fashion:  The first wave of storms should make their way into Deep East Texas sometime between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Strong to severe storms could occur with rainfall amounts averaging about an inch.  Then, we get a bit of a respite before the 2nd line up of storms move in.  Friday and Saturday, more strong to severe storms can be expected, but rainfall amounts of over 3-5 inches should be rather commonplace across the Eastern third of Texas.
