Despite a move to Fridays, The Vampire Diaries has thrived long enough to earn itself an early eighth season renewal, even as recent comments from series star Ian Somerhalder suggested next year might be the last for Stefan and Damon. Not so, at least yet, as the Vampire Diaries star walks back his prior statement, leaving the decision up to The CW.

Fans of The Vampire Diaries, we have both good news and bad. On the plus side, we’ve just discovered that the sexy supernatural soap is still on the air, and airing its sixth season at that, so hooray! In less hooray news however, series star Nina Dobrev has decided to leave The Vampire Diaries behind after the current run. Who will write the Diaries, or … uh, Vampire the Vampires now? Is that what happens on this show?

Thank goodness we have The Vampire Diaries to come in and fill the supernatural hole left by the season finale of True Blood! The new episode is tonight at 7pm on The CW.

Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder of The CW's Vampire Diaries finally outed themselves as a couple earlier this year, and they weren't shy about sharing what they love about one another at the recent CW Premiere Party.  Ian said of Nina, "She truly enjoys life...
