A mom from the central Texas city of Killeen is standing up for her son who got into trouble for helping a fellow student who was having an asthma attack.

According to a report from KCEN-TV, Anthony Rueles, 15, saw a fellow 8th grade student struggling to breath.  According to Rueles, the teacher instructed the class to keep seated until an e-mail from a nurse was received.  After a few minutes of seeing the student in distress, Rueles decided to carry the girl to the nurse.

That action went against the instructions from the teacher and therefore against school rules which led to a suspension for Rueles.  His mother considers her son a hero even though he did not follow the rules given.

An investigation into the matter by Killeen ISD is underway.
