“The Jeffersons” Star Sherman Hemsley Dead In Texas at 74 [VIDEO]

Actor Sherman Hemsley, best known for his role as TV character George Jefferson, has died at his El Paso, Texas, home at the age of 74, according to TMZ.com. The cause of death has not been released as of yet.

Back when I used to watch "The Jeffersons" I didn't know that it was a spin off.  Hemsley started playing the role of George Jefferson on the 1970s sitcom All in the Family.  The Jeffersons was a long running show that was a big part of my child hood and was on the air for ten years from 1975 to 1985.   Sherman Helmsly also had a role in the 80's comedy Amen...and I watched that as well.  Man I used to watch a bunch of TV.  Well he was a cool dude, may he rest in peace.
