If you are looking for an inexpensive romantic gesture that will last forever, come to Downtown Lufkin, and show the world who you love with a lock on a tree.

February 10th, 2016 marks a special occasion for Downtown Lufkin, as the "Locked With Love Tree" was unveiled to the public.

No, it's not a living tree ... It's a set of ascending metal rings, allowing for people from all over the world to come to our quaint little town, and declare their everlasting love in the form of a symbolic lock.

Many people were disappointed to discover the news of the Pont des Arts bridge in Paris having to remove their "love locks" last year, but Lufkin Main Street Director, Barbara Thompson got the brilliant idea to adopt the idea for something not structurally dependent for travel.

The Locked With Love Tree is located in Cotton Square Park, in Downtown Lufkin.

Folks from all over can come and place a lock on the structure for free. There's even a cool sign with a slot to dump your keys into, sending the keys into the ground, further proving your permanent love.

Someone joked that it wouldn't be a bad idea to sell bolt cutters nearby, but that totally defeats the purpose of the gesture. Although, we wouldn't be surprised to find a few locksmith business cards posted up near Cotton Square Park.
