Thousands Across the US Protest Donald Trump Presidency

The fallout from a Donald Trump presidency is already being felt.

Protests took place all over the country on Wednesday, with CNN reporting they were held in 25 cities. According to ABC, some 10,000 people alone reportedly voiced their displeasure in New York City protests, which included one outside of Trump Tower. Police there said 65 people were arrested.

ABC reports a total of 124 people were arrested. There were also reports of damage, vandalism and injuries.

One woman working for a group called Social Alternative Berkeley may have summed it best by saying, People are furious, not just at the results of the election, but the rhetoric of Donald Trump.”

One protester in Los Angeles, where 13 people were arrested, even called for violence. In that city, people who came out against Trump blocked a part of Highway 101.

Los Angeles was also the site of a march toward City Hall where people chanted “Fight back, stand up” and “¡Si se puede,” which is Spanish for “It can be done.” A pinata in Trump’s image was also set on fire.

Protesters in the nation’s capital headed toward the Trump International Hotel chanting, “No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA,” as well as “not my president,” while those in Chicago marched along the famed Lake Shore Drive toward that city’s Trump Tower.

Similar demonstrations played out elsewhere across the nation, with one in Oakland becoming violent.
