Today is National Common Courtesy Day – No Change For East Texans

Today is National Common Courtesy Day. Most Texans would say that every day is common courtesy day, but I've been observing a shift in our so-called polite nature that I'd like to rant about now.

In the entirety of bizarre National "holidays," this one might be the most strange to choose to observe.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing to use common courtesy out in the real world. I'm saying this is really something we should all be doing every day.

Not everyone is the same I suppose, and today could be a good reminder to be a bit more aware of your actions.

What's even more weird is to think about how common courtesy can get folks in trouble nowadays. This world has changed, and there are people just looking for reasons to be upset.

Have you ever said, "Thank you," to someone, and they snapped back saying, "I didn't do it for you!."

Or have you ever held the door for someone and they murmured, "I can open my own damn door."

We might see less of it being in sweet little old East Texas, where people just seem to be more polite, but is it just learned behavior, and when that waitress calls you "sweetie," she's really thinking of insults?

Maybe I'm overthinking this, and I don't feel like I've fully explained my thoughts on the matter. I may have to revisit this nonsense in the future, but in the meantime, let me know in the comments if I'm making any sense or if anyone agrees with me.
