I will say that the promotion for the movie has been over the top, started with dumping Bisquick on Ryan Seacrest, and ended on a near fall from a camel Cannes film festival over the past weekend.  For the small amount of promotion that I have seen on the TV.  Sacha Baron Cohen has almost taken it viral.

Disco legend Donna Summer has died after a battle with cancer, TMZ is reporting. She was 63 years old.

Insiders say she wanted to keep the disease quiet, and a friend said that as recently as two weeks ago, Summer seemed okay and was even finishing up work on a new album.

The five-time Grammy winner shot to fame in the 1970s with songs like ‘Love to Love You Baby,’ ‘Hot Stuff’ and ‘Bad Girls,’ and continued her reign on radio airwaves into the ’80s with hits including ‘She Works Hard for the Money’ and ‘This Time I Know It’s for Real.’

Summer was also the first artist to have three consecutive double albums reach No. 1 on the US Billboard chart.

I was born in the 80s, but didn’t grow up listening to her music until I was a little bit older. My sisters are I used to make up dances to her songs all the time. She will always be a legend and music icon. Rest in Peace, Donna Summer!

Dev is the subject of an upcoming MTV special, dubbed simply ‘DEV,’ which airs May 23 at 11PM ET on the network. Why Dev? Well, she has quite a story: She’s been working her butt off to become a pop star (in her downtown L.A. digs) but then became pregnant last year.

In the trailer, Dev reveals that her parents had her at a young age, so “it’s like we grew up together,” since her dad does beer bongs in their small, Cali town.

Dev, who was discovered on MySpace (!!!) by the Cataracs, shares that she is living the dream “but I’m far from a pop star.” That doesn’t stop her from working her tail off to become a household name. Chances are, you know her songs – Far East Movement‘s ‘Like a G6′ sampled Dev’s ‘Booty Bounce’ and ‘In the Dark’ got a decent share of radio play — but you may not know her by face.

Dev also takes us through the preparation for the release of her debut ‘The Night the Sun Came Up’ and her unplanned pregnancy, which was high risk. Daughter Emilia arrived in December. Hope we get to meet her on camera.

Dev’s existence is interesting and she’s certainly worthy of her own MTV special.

Adam Levine gets bank robbed by his Maroon 5 bandmates in their video for the smash single ‘Payphone.’

In the plot-driven clip, which is completely devoid of performance footage save for Levine singing the lyrics into a pay phone receiver, the frontman plays an insecure banker who hates his life and his job… Until the bank is robbed by crooks (played by the band members) and he attempts to become the “hero” in a hail of bullets as he makes his escape and steals a gun off a robber.

Levine-as-office-drone looks good in glasses. Who knew? He grabs the hot chick — who also wears nerdy specs and is dressed in a sensible, business casual skirt suit — and they hotfoot it out of the bank, steal a hot rod and are chased by the cops. It makes you wonder for a hot minute if they have anything to do with the bank heist or if it’s a case of miscommunication.

All of the action footage, which plays out like a big budget blockbuster film, is spliced with shots of a dirty, beaten Levine at an actual pay phone under a bridge singing to someone. The video is somewhat out of chronological order, since Levine hops on the pay phone after the car chase but we watch him there repeatedly.

The song’s featured guest Wiz Khalifa drops his raps while warming his hands on a bonfire under the bridge by the pay phone, as the cops continue to chase Levine and his banker gal pal. Cop cars catch on fire, flip over and blow up! Cool, right?

Who knew Adam Levine was such a fine actor? He looks pretty sexy in a white wife beater, showing off tattooed his arms.

Kudos to Maroon 5 for having all action video, as opposed to just them playing instruments. This vid unfolds like a mini-movie, with lots of thrills, action and hot pursuit. Bring on the summer blockbusters!

Kelly Clarkson‘s smash single ‘Stronger’ took on an entirely new meaning when the patients on the hemoncology floor of Seattle’s Children Hospital filmed a video of them singing the powerful lyrics.

Even the nurses get in on the fun, singing and dancing down the halls. Music really can lift people up when used right!

There are lots of shots of the close-cropped patients singing the words, but more importantly, they are showing off and demonstrating their resilience. It is a true testament to the infallibility of the human spirit.

These kids show that they can have fun and be moved by music even when dealing with something as tough as cancer. It’s super cute and will brighten your mood — especially seeing  sick kids having fun and trying to enjoy life, thanks to music.

What a powerful video! God bless all these kids. We hope they beat the odds.

Road trips can often get boring. So what do you do when you run out of options to keep you occupied? If you are the boys from Harvard’s baseball team, you put on a Carly Rae Jepsen’s pop hit ‘Call Me Maybe’ and lip-synch to it while the camera’s rolling.

The Canadian singer’s inescapable smash hit has already seen numerous lip-synch covers from the likes of Katy Perry and Justin Bieber. And despite their jock status, the boys seem to show no apprehension in dancing along to this cover. Though the moves are repetitive, space can be limiting when you cram in six college boys (seven including one sleeper) in the back of a van.

Girls on the internet are obviously going gaga over the boys’ “cute” moves and “cute’ looks and describing the whole video as…”cute.” Their staid faces may not show it, but we kind of agree with the girls.

Yauch had been treated for a cancerous parotid gland and a lymph node, but it is not yet known whether that contributed to his death.

Yauch is survived by his wife and daughter.

I remember the first time I heard this song, way back in like 1990, I thought the guys at work were so cool by playing it in the stock room in the grocery store I worked at.

Cancer has always been a battle in my family.  Father died of Pancreatic Cancer almost 15 years ago.  I am getting very close to the age he was when he died. I can’t imagine being on this earth for just another ten or 15 years.  He missed the birth of his 5 beautiful grandchildren, my sisters wedding…the list goes on and on.

This cause is deeply ingrained in me, and I can’t think of a family that hasn’t had to deal with it in one way or another.  If you want to do something about it,  join the hundreds of people gathering  at Lufkin Middle School Friday night at 7pm for the annual American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event. Cancer survivors, their friends and families will fill the stadium to raise money and cancer awareness.

No matter who you are, there’s a place for you at relay! Each dollar you raise will help save lives. How far will you go to make a difference in the fight against cancer?

Justin Bieber‘s video for ‘Boyfriend’ is his most mature to date, since his fans are growing and evolving with him. It’s logical and chronological for him to do that. He is now officially a leading man. The big twist that The Biebs spoke about when hyping the vid? The teasers, such as the one of the female hands pawing at his chest, which he released in advance of the premiere, weren’t representative of or a part of the video. Biebs, you literally are a tease!

The clip starts with the song’s intro and the singer whispering in a pretty girl’s ear, as seen through the screen of an iPhone, with other girls watching them voyeuristically. Then, the video stops and starts all over again, with the Biebs now cruising in a black convertible, with sunglasses and the famed Bieber bangs spiked instead of swooped. He shows of his desirable side, bumping and grinding with a pretty brunette.

These are all signposts that Bieber is growing up.

He plays guitar while his friends, both male and female, dance on a rooftop on a warm, sunny day. He’s strumming away, impressing the one he wants. There’s also lots of cars.

The Biebs works really hard to woo the object of his affection, that pretty girl whose boyfriend he wants to be. He nuzzles and cuddles with her in the car, singing the lyrics in her ear and playing with her hair. He’s working it and romancing her to the nth degree.

The gold kicks don’t hurt, either. Stylin’ and profilin’ and growing up.

By the time the vid fades out, you’re left with this thought: Justin Bieber, Leading Man. He’s a boy no more.

One thing is for sure if you go to any event in East Texas you better bring cash. I was so busy on Saturday I forgot to go to the ATM. All of the concession stands took cash only, so I had to leave and find an ATM. First convenience store I stopped at only took cash, and by that time I was close enough to my bank that I just went there. There is an app that can take Pay Pal or Debit cards with a reader for Iphones. I think they could make a lot more money for a great cause by getting a few for the concession stands.

So I missed a little of the rodeo, but made it back in time for the bull riding. It’s my favorite event at the Rodeo. The Video is of a Lufkin Native on a mean bull! He didn’t make it to 8 seconds, but he put up quite the fight! If you didn’t make it out this year put it down for next year. It’s a great inexpensive way to have a night out with the kids!
