Well it is supposed to get very hot today. a hot summer overall this year. I thought I would start a little series of helpful hints to stay cool outside and inside your home or workplace. I have lived here in the humidity and sweat of East Texas all my life. I wouldn't have it any other way. That being said I have a deep love affair with fans and A/C. The question in everyone's mind inevitably is, has it always been this hot!? Well the answer is yes, and for a long time with no A/C.

I was taking out the trash this morning and already sweating. You can't always go inside and cool off. I saw a church groups outside this morning helping one of my neighbors in the yard, and they are gonna get hot. I saw another church group outside of Sam's this weekend, collecting money and it was sweltering. So here is today's tip on staying cool out there:

Lots of my hints involve water so get that hose out! Try soaking your feet in a bucket of cold water. You can do it almost anywhere. The body radiates heat from the hands, feet, face and ears, so cooling any of these will cool you off! But if you can't get a bucket, running cold water over your wrists for 10 seconds each hand will reduce your temperature for roughtly an hour, Takes 20 seconds to do and feels very nice if your wrists come in contact with other parts of your body, like your sweaty head.

Today to stay cool, and relaxed today, I made a cup of ice water in the office. Got the Solo Red cup out, ice and everything. Just seems cooler than a bottle of water or Styrofoam cup. Till next time, stay cool East Texas! Dan Patrick
