Now that Christmas is over, it's probably time to take down the tree. For most of us anyway. One percent of the population leaves the tree up all year! You know who you are.

How long is too long? Most people take down the tree by early January, and some of us ripped it down as soon as the last present was passed out.

NBC's Today Show took a poll, and found that three quarters of the population will have the tree taken down by January 6th, twelve days after Christmas. That's plenty of time to wrap up the holiday gatherings and enjoy the glow from the tree. Once the kids head back to school in January, apparently it's time to get back to the routines that don't involve a fir tree in the living room.

Seventeen percent take the tree down the day after Christmas. Done! The gifts have been passed out and those folks put away the decor as quick as they can.

Eight percent will have the tree down by Valentine's Day, and one percent will leave it up all year. That's either a whole lotta Christmas spirit, or just incredible laziness.

My kids were SO excited to put up the tree, they made me do it on November 18th. Something tells me they're in no hurry to help take it down. If I can tear them away from their new Wii games and art supplies, perhaps we'll take down the tree this weekend.

It's time to transition to the New Year's celebrations after all. Hotel Fredonia in Nacogdoches is hosting a New Year' Eve party Monday night. The Crown Colony Country Club in Lufkin is hosting their annual holiday party this Saturday, if you want to get a jump start on the celebrating.

Enjoy your weekend!
