How popular is Katy Perry right now? She’s already obliterated the sophomore jinx by selling five million copies (and counting) of her latest album, ‘Teenage Dream’…and she might tie a record in the process.

With four number one singles from ‘Teenage Dream’ — ‘Firework,’ ‘E.T.,’ ‘California Gurls,’ and the title track — Katy’s one hit away from reaching Michael Jackson’s record for most chart-toppers from an album — and her latest single, ‘Last Friday Night (TGIF),’ is poised to take her the rest of the way.

Jackson scored five number one hits from his ‘Bad’ album — ‘I Just Can’t Stop Loving You,’ ‘Bad,’ ‘The Way You Make Me Feel,’ ‘Man in the Mirror’ and ‘Dirty Diana.’

In fact, ‘Last Friday Night (TGIF)’ has already risen all the way to number two — but it’ll have to get past LMFAO’s ‘Party Rock Anthem’ to reach the top spot. ‘Party Rock’ is a genuine phenomenon, having reached number one in 14 countries, but it’s been out since January. ‘Last Friday Night (TGIF),’ which only went to radio last month, has fresher legs.

And if she does end up tying Michael’s long-standing record, what’s next for Katy? Could we see a sixth number one hit from ‘Teenage Dream’?
