Check Out These East Texas Teams in the Latest Soccer Rankings
This is a busy time of the year when it comes to high school athletics.
Basketball and Soccer teams are deep into district play. Swimming teams are in the midst of qualifying for the state UIL meets. Baseball and softball teams are just getting geared up to kick off their seasons.
In past stories, I have highlighted area basketball and swimming teams that have earned recognition, but it's time to give props to some of the area high school boys' and girls' soccer teams.
Lethal Enforcer Texas High School Soccer bills itself as the '#1 Source for Texas High School Soccer'. Every couple of weeks, they release rankings of soccer teams that are the compilation of opinions of coaches and media across the state. Several Deep East Texas area teams are getting some recognition in those polls.
Lufkin High School Girl's Soccer Team
The Lady Pack is ranked 21st in the Class 5A - Region 2 poll. Lufkin is on a roll as they have won 5 straight games, including a convincing win over Huntsville in their district opener. The Panthers' only losses on the season have been against highly-ranked opponents.
Livingston High School Girl's Soccer Team
The Lady Lions check in at number 8 in the Lethal Enforcer rankings for Class 4A - Region 3 teams. Livingston is undefeated so far this year (according to MaxPreps), and they have outscored their opponents 40-3.
Nacogdoches High School Boy's Soccer Team
The Dragons are ranked 23rd in the top 25 rankings for Class 5A - Region 2. Home of former professional soccer great Clint Dempsey, Nacogdoches dropped their district opener to 17th-ranked Kingwood Park, but they are looking to quickly rebound and make a run for the playoffs over the next few weeks.
Hudson High School Girl's Soccer Team
Hudson is ranked 19th in the Class 4A - Region 2 soccer poll. The Lady Hornets have
been on a roll as of late including two straight victories by a combined 16-0 to start district play. Hudson will try to keep the momentum going as their district is stacked with ranked teams.
