Fall Blast to Bring East Texas Much Colder Temps…Maybe Severe Weather
UPDATED, 12 PM
The Storm Prediction Center has increased the threat of severe storms this afternoon and evening for portions of Deep East Texas and southeast Texas. Sabine, Tyler, Jasper, and Newton Counties, along with other counties in the Golden Triangle Area, are now included in the yellow-shaded 'Slight Risk' region. All severe weather threats are in play, including hail, high winds, and tornadoes.
ORIGINAL STORY
The weather in Deep East Texas will undergo some major changes over the next 12-24 hours. The strongest cold front of the fall season (so far) will be bringing us much colder temperatures. Winds gusting to 35+ mph will bring our wind chill readings well into the 30s.
Oh...and don't be surprised if there's hail or a tornado or two.

Let's Start With The Severe Weather Threat
The Storm Prediction Center only recently added this severe weather risk from the ArkLaTex to southeast Texas. It's just a marginal threat, but forecasters are alerting residents in the darker green area to a less than 5% chance of hail or a tornado happening as the front pushes through on Tuesday afternoon.
How Cold (And Windy) Will It Get?
Tuesday's weather will start much like Monday's. However, the leading edge of storms associated with this approaching front is expected to start pushing through the Pineywoods sometime after lunch today. We have a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms, but the downpours are expected to be brief, so heavy rainfall amounts are not anticipated.
By mid-afternoon on Tuesday, the winds will have shifted to the northwest, and the area pines will be doing some major swaying. We can expect winds gusting to 20-30 mph this afternoon and throughout the night. Don't be surprised by a few gusts up to 35-40 mph on Wednesday. The gusty winds should finally diminish late Wednesday night.
Tuesday's high temperature will reach the lower 80s before frontal passage, but will start a slow drop by sunset. Temperatures will drop into the 50s before midnight tonight. Get ready for beautiful fall days through the weekend with high temperatures in the 60s and 70s, while lows will be in the 40s and 50s.
