$25,000! East Texas Has a Cash Five Texas Lottery Winner
The Texas Lottery's Ca$h Five drawing for Wednesday, April 9, produced one statewide winner. A ticket sold at the convenience store pictured below matched all five winning numbers (5-8-14-29-30).
The Cardinal Corner located at the intersection of FM 1252 and Old Kilgore Highway sold the $25K ticket. The location carries a Kilgore address, but it's located in Liberty City, just down the road from Sabine High School.
How to Play Cash Five
Pick five numbers between 1-35 and you're set. The cost to play is $1, and you have four opportunities to win.
- Match 2 of 5 numbers, win a free Cash Five Quick Pick ticket
- Match 3 of 5 numbers, win $15
- Match 4 of 5 numbers, win $350
- Match all 5, win $25,000
The odds of winning the top jackpot are about 1 in 324,000. There were 13 total top winners in March, so roughly, the game averages one jackpot winner every other drawing.
Kilgore Had Another Huge Texas Lottery Winner in 2024
The Kilgore area is no stranger to winning huge Texas Lottery jackpots.
In September 2024, somebody in Kilgore won $500,000 playing the All or Nothing game. This is an extremely tough game to win, with the jackpot-winning odds somewhere around 1 in 2.7 million.
To win the top prize of $250,000, you must match all 12 numbers drawn between 1-24, or match all 12 numbers not drawn.
The winning player purchased two winning tickets at Zippy J's in Kilgore. One matched all 12 numbers, the other didn't match any. That equals half a million dollars!
