Whenever I hear the words 'boat' and 'three-hour tour', I immediately show my age and think of Gilligan's Island. According to the theme song, the SS Minnow was chartered for a three-hour tour, but then the weather started getting rough and the tiny ship was tossed...and we know the rest.

If Only They Had Chartered 'The Wave'

The Wave is advertised at the largest party barge in the state of Texas. It's based at Joe Pool Lake in Grand Prairie (just south of Arlington) and it can accommodate up to 97 passengers. So, Gilligan, Mary Ann, the Skipper, and the rest could have invited a lot of their friends.

When you think of a party barge on the lake, you probably default to a summertime getaway for a fun way to keep cool. The Wave certainly offers that, but take a look at this video of a nighttime Christmas excursion. That looks pretty darn cool!

What You Get with The Wave

  • Accommodations for up to 97 passengers
  • Waterslides
  • Captain, crew, and Life Jackets included
  • Pets are allowed
  • Bluetooth, AM/FM Radio
  • Lounge Chairs
  • BBQ Grill (crew will cook for you on request)

How Much Will It Cost?

Well, it is the largest party barge in Texas, so, it does come with a pretty large price tag. The flat fee for a 3-hour rental is around $950. That doesn't include the $25 per person charge that's added to that flat fee.

But, if you were to invite 50 folks to the party and you do an even split, that would end up being less than $50 per person for a really unique and fun way to spend some time with family and friends.

If you're looking for something different to do this summer, you may want to consider taking the party three hours down the road to Grand Prairie.
