
Lufkin, Nacogdoches To End August With Fall-Like Temperatures
Fall arrives on September 22, 2025. It looks like the weather in Texas is getting a head start.
Last week, a cold front pushed through much of the Lone Star State, bringing below-normal temperatures at a time when triple-digit heat is commonplace.
When Will The Cold Front Move Into Lufkin, Nacogdoches?
The Pineywoods will remain on the south side of the cooler air to start the week. A high of 95 is expected for Monday, and 93 for Tuesday.
However, by Wednesday, the cold front begins playing a cat-and-mouse game with East Texas.
Our high on Wednesday is expected to be 88, then drop back to 92 on Thursday. However, by Friday, the cold front is expected to steamroll through the Pineywoods and all the way to the coast.

Much Cooler Temperatures For The Weekend
Depending on the timing of Friday's front, the high temperatures should range from the mid to upper 80s across the Lufkin and Nacogdoches area.
Saturday's highs will give much of East Texas a pleasant taste of fall as temperatures could be 10-15 degrees below normal. Some locations may not make it out of the 70s.
Rain Chances This Week
It should be a rather dry week across the Pineywoods. The best chance of rain and thunderstorms will occur on Friday afternoon with the frontal passage. Slight rain chances will continue through the weekend.
No severe weather is expected, and total rainfall accumulations should average around a quarter to a half inch.
Enjoy This While You Can
These last two weeks of August have brought some welcome relief from the usual oppressive temps. But this is East Texas, and we know that summer weather will be making a quick comeback.
The Climate Prediction Center is forecasting above-average heat for the middle of September.
