A standoff in Houston, Texas, involving a big rig driver ended after three tense hours. You can check out the video of the incident at the bottom of this article.

The situation kicked off when Harris County Sheriff's deputies began pursuing an 18-wheeler that was slowly crawling along the highway shoulder. The truck, despite its sluggish pace, eventually came to a full stop with one wheel still spinning as it idled on the freeway's shoulder.

Authorities quickly surrounded the truck, at times with guns drawn, as the driver refused to exit the vehicle. The reason behind the pursuit remains unclear, but deputies deployed spike strips multiple times to bring the rig to a halt.

Additional law enforcement, including a helicopter, arrived on the scene. Crisis negotiators communicated with the driver, but he remained seated behind the wheel.

Heavy equipment known as a 'rook' was brought in to ram the truck, ripping the door off the cab. A type of gas was released into the cab, yet the driver sat stoically through it all.

Finally, a K9 officer was sent into the truck, and SWAT teams finally pulled the driver out, taking him into custody and loading him into an ambulance. No weapons were found during the initial search of the big rig.
