Actress Known for ‘Kingpin’ and ‘Weird Science’ to Appear in Shreveport

Shreveport's comic con, Geek'd Con, turns 10 this year! That's right, a decade of Geek'd Con in Downtown Shreveport. This year's event will take place August 22nd-24th at the Shreveport Convention Center, and tickets are on sale now.

With it being the 10th Anniversary, Geek'd Con has been working to bring back guests that helped the event make it to 10 years. That includes return guest Vanessa Angel!

Who Is Vanessa Angel?

Vanessa is probably best known for being a lead in the movie Kingpin and the TV series of Weird Science.

In Kingpin, she stars opposite Woody Harrelson, Bill Murray, and Randy Quaid. The comedy film is traditionally recognized as a 90s classic. Vanessa gained major attention for appearing on much of the marketing for the movie, including numerous solo movie posters, print ads, and billboards.

When it comes to Weird Science, Vanessa took on the lead role of Lisa, which had been played by Kelly LeBrock in the 1985 film. The tv series debuted on the USA Network in 1994, and ran for over 85 episodes over 4 years.

Has Vanessa Angel Done Anything Else?

Vanessa Angel has done A LOT more in her career. From movies like Spies Like Us, Popstar, and Hall Pass, to TV shows like Baywatch, Stargate SG-1, Entourage and Californiacation.

So, in short, Vanessa Angel is kind of a big deal. Which is why it makes sense that she's visited Geek'd Con a couple of times in the past. But those appearances have been on short notice. While this time, everyone knows well in advance.

What Other Celebrities Are Coming To Geek'd Con 2025?

This year's guest lineup also includes a 35th Anniversary "Shell-a-Bration" for the release of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Including voice actors Brian Tochi (Leonardo), Robbie Rist (Michalangelo), and martial artists Ernie Reyes, Jr. (Donatello) and Kenn Scott (Raphael). The four Turtles actors will be joined by Francois Chau, who portrayed The Shredder in the TMNT film universe as well.
