There Were Five Teams That Tried To Get Micah Parsons From The Cowboys
As the NFL season gets underway, we're getting to see the first chapters of this year's storylines. But one of those stories has already had its first chapter written and published. The Saga of Micah Parsons is already a couple chapters deep.
The 2-time First Team All Pro and 4-time Pro Bowl player earned plenty of accolades and attention playing for the Dallas Cowboys since they drafted him in 2021. But that relationship soured as Parsons' contract was needing to be extended.
This issue between Parsons and the Cowboys eventually boiled over, and Parsons was traded prior to the start of this season.
Micah Parsons Is Now A Green Bay Packer.
So this past weekend, Parsons made his debut for the Green Bay Packers. They made a massive blockbuster deal for Parsons, and then were happy to offer him the extension the Cowboys refused to.
That Packers contract is a 4-year, $188 million contract. Which makes Parsons the highest paid non-QB in NFL history. Which the Packers seemed happy to offer as a part of the acquisition.

Four Other Teams Asked Dallas About Parsons
The really big news coming out after the Packers game has less to do with Parsons' play for the Pack, and more to do with other NFL teams.
NFL Insider Dianna Russini is reporting that 5 total teams reached out to the Dallas Cowboys about bringing Parsons in. The Packers are obviously one, but Russini adds that the Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts, and Buffalo Bills all reached out the Cowboys to acquire Parsons. This adds on to the additional reporting from Adam Schefter that the Philadelphia Eagles asked about Parsons, but the Cowboys did not entertain that idea at all.
There were a lot of teams rumored to be in on Parsons, but Russini says many of those teams never actually made an attempt to even ask about getting Parsons. Teams like the Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns, and Tennessee Titans were all linked to Parsons rumors, but never contacted the Cowboys.
What Do The Cowboys Have Now?
In order to get Parsons, the Packers not only had to give him the crazy big contract, they had to trade a ton of capital to the Cowboys. This includes Defensive Lineman Kenny Clark, and TWO First Round Draft Picks. Which is a pretty massive price tag for a player you need to pay big money to right away.
But this means the Cowboys have an instant starter on the Defensive Line with Clark, and a pair of First Round NFL Draft Picks they can either use to get more talent, or pair to trade away and move up in the draft.
